DuraFlex Fireplace Repair in Atlanta: What to Know First
We provide independent DuraFlex fireplace repair throughout Atlanta, with most jobs completed in a single visit because we keep common DuraFlex components on the truck. A typical repair runs $225 to $640 depending on what’s actually failed, and you’ll get that number in writing before we touch anything. No surprises at the door, no price that moves after the diagnostic.
If you own a fireplace with a DuraFlex liner or venting system and something’s not right, you’re in the right place. Call (678) 263-7908 and a live person answers, day or night. We’ll tell you what we can diagnose over the phone and what needs eyes on it.
How DuraFlex Products Fail, and How We Fix Them
DuraFlex makes solid stainless steel venting products, but no liner lasts forever. Here’s what we actually see on repair calls in Atlanta, and what we do about it:
- DuraFlex SS 316Ti corrugated liners buckling at the firebox connection. The flexible liner takes the brunt of heat cycling right where it meets the appliance collar, and repeated expansion and contraction can kink or tear it. We cut back the damaged section, install a proper connector, and re-secure it so the liner hangs straight instead of stressing at the bend.
- DuraFlex AL (aluminum) liners degrading faster than expected in gas fireplaces. Aluminum flex is rated for gas only, not wood, but some Atlanta homes have the wrong liner in place from a previous install. If moisture from condensation or a roof leak has been sitting on it, you’ll see white oxidation and pinholes. We replace with the correct grade, always.
- DuraFlex Smooth Wall pipe developing leaks at the seams. The smooth-wall product is great for draft, but its snap-seam design can open up slightly if the pipe shifts. This shows up as a faint smoky smell in the house when the fireplace runs. We re-seat, seal, and add support brackets where the pipe was hanging unsupported.
- Warranty voided by third-party glue and tape. We remove plenty of failed repair attempts where someone used high-temp silicone or foil tape on a DuraFlex joint. DuraFlex components are designed to fit together mechanically. Tape and sealant are not OEM fixes, and they’ll fail again. We strip it, clean it, and use the right mechanical connections.
- Improperly sized DuraFlex liner causing chronic backdraft. A liner that’s too small or way too large for the fireplace flue will cause smoke rollout or soot buildup at an alarming rate. We calculate the correct liner diameter for the appliance and the chimney’s actual dimensions before we recommend a repair or replacement. It’s a math problem, not a guess.

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Repair Process
Every job follows the same order, whether it’s a pilot assembly on a gas insert or a full liner repair. We don’t skip steps because that’s how you end up back on a ladder in February.
- 1
You call (678) 263-7908. A person answers. We ask about the symptoms, the appliance type, and when it started. If it’s a gas smell or visible smoke in the house, we’ll tell you to open a window and shut the gas valve until we arrive.
- 2
We show up in the window we gave you. Uniformed, background-checked technician. We bring shoe covers and a drop cloth, and we look at the whole system, not just the part you called about.
- 3
Diagnostic inspection with the camera. We scope the DuraFlex liner or vent run top to bottom, so you see exactly what we see on the screen. If it’s a firebox issue, we check the refractory panels, the gas valve, the pilot, and the damper path.
- 4
Written price before any work starts. We’ll tell you what’s wrong, what we recommend, what it costs, and what can safely wait. You decide. If OEM DuraFlex parts are available and cost-effective, that’s the quote. If a quality aftermarket part does the same job and saves you money, we’ll say so.
- 5
Repair and test. We make the fix, run the fireplace, check draft with a match or smoke test, and verify gas connections with a leak detector on gas units. The fireplace runs correctly before we call it done.
- 6
Written guarantee and cleanup. You’ll have the guarantee in writing, and we leave the area cleaner than we found it. If the repair fails within the guarantee period, we come back at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

AfterWhat DuraFlex Fireplace Repair Costs in Atlanta
Here’s the honest math, because you should know before you call:
- Pilot light won’t stay lit on a gas fireplace: $185 to $310. Usually a thermocouple or thermopile, occasionally a gas valve.
- Damaged firebox refractory panels: $275 to $520 installed, depending on panel size and appliance.
- Damper replacement or repair: $160 to $395, more if we’re fabricating a custom top-seal damper.
- DuraFlex liner joint repair or reseal: $250 to $480.
- Full DuraFlex liner replacement in an active fireplace: $1,900 to $3,600, sized to the flue, including labor and materials.
What moves the price is access, liner diameter, and whether we’re working from the roof or from inside the firebox. You’ll get the exact number in writing before we order a single part. Call (678) 263-7908 for a free estimate.
Why Atlanta Homeowners Call Ashby Chimney Atlanta for DuraFlex Work
Most of our DuraFlex repair customers in Atlanta have been burned before, sometimes literally by a bad liner joint and sometimes by a contractor who never showed. That’s why we operate the Kingswell Way: say the price first, show up when we said we would, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails. Nathan Corliss and the crew work on DuraFlex systems every week, from Buckhead bungalows to older places near Grant Park. If your liner needs more than a repair and DuraFlex isn’t the right answer, we also work with HeatShield and Gelco, so the recommendation you get is the right product, not just the one we stock.
Every repair gets a written guarantee. Free second visit if it fails inside the guarantee period. Live phone answerer, 24/7. Background-checked techs in uniform. Since 2002, that’s been the standard.
FAQs
We do both. We replace damaged DuraFlex liners and venting in fireplaces, and we repair existing DuraFlex installs. We are an independent DuraFlex service provider, not an authorized dealer, so we can give you an honest read on whether a repair or replacement makes sense without any push toward one product line.
No, not if the repair is done correctly with proper mechanical connections and compatible parts. What does void warranties is sealing DuraFlex joints with silicone or tape, which we see too often on previous DIY fixes. We remove those, redo the connection properly, and document the work with photos. If there’s an active manufacturer warranty on a failed DuraFlex part, we can help you understand what’s covered before you pay for a repair. Call (678) 263-7908 and we’ll walk through it.
Common components like connectors, clamps, and shorter liner sections are on our trucks. Longer custom sections or specific smooth-wall fittings usually arrive in three to five business days from our suppliers. If it’s a larger job, we’ll give you a written timeline along with the written price, and we hold to both.
Yes, and we’ll be straight with you. A slightly sticky damper or a pilot that needs attention once a season can often wait. A liner joint that’s leaking combustion gases into the chase, or a gas valve that’s letting gas pool even when off, cannot. During the inspection, you’ll see the camera footage and we’ll tell you plainly what’s an urgent fix and what’s a schedule-it-this-year fix. No scare tactics, just the facts and a written price for whatever you choose. Call (678) 263-7908 and we’ll take a look.
Depends on the problem. A cracked refractory panel gets worse and can damage the firebox shell. A leaking liner joint can let carbon monoxide into the house. A failing damper wastes conditioned air every single month. If the camera shows a problem, we’ll show you what that problem is and what it costs to fix now versus what it tends to cost when it’s ignored for two more seasons. The estimate is free, and the decision is always yours.
If your DuraFlex fireplace isn’t running right, call (678) 263-7908 for a free estimate. You’ll get a live person, a straight answer, and a written price before any work begins. That’s the only way we do business in Atlanta.
